Assessment of new biomarkers of harm that more accurately reflect disease mechanisms. Assessment of behavioral changes associated with use of new combustible and smokeless products and how these changes may affect the harm reduction potential of PREPs. |

Documentation concerning the 2007 Research Symposium is available at http://www.ifsh.org/New/Conferences/TobaccoScienceAndHealth/2007/Index.asp . Please read the descriptive article and follow the links provided for additional documentation. The Registration Fee ($125.00) will only be billed upon confirmation. Registrants may elect to present abstracts of recent research in poster format at their discretion as described below. Should a confirmed registration need to be cancelled, the Registration Fee will be refunded in full for requests made prior to February 10, 2007. After 2/10/07, no refunds will be processed and the entire Registration Fee will be forfeited. Hotel reservations need to be made separately by contacting the Galt House Hotel and Suites at 1-800-843-4258 (phone), 502-585-4266 (fax), or online at https://reservations.ajshotels.com:7002 . Please use the following information when making reservations; Group ID - 346762 , Group Name - Institute for Science and Health , Event Name - 2007 Tobacco Science and Health , to receive the negotiated room rate. Reservations must be made before February 5, 2007. If you are requesting a Travel Scholarship, follow the instructions described below.
Abstracts, Presentations and 'Young Investigator Award'
Abstracts of research work in areas relevant to this conference are welcomed. Abstracts should be limited to 300 words and will only be accepted using the Online Abstract Submission Form located at www.ifsh.org/Abstract . The deadline for abstract submission is February 15, 2007. Abstracts will be presented in poster format. Posters should include, title, authors, abstract and be readable from a distance of 3 feet or more. Posters may not exceed 3' (H) X 4' (W) (3' ~ 1 meter) to accommodate the poster board surface size. Contributing authors will be notified about assignment of poster board number. Please bring your own push-pins.
Young Investigator Award - If the contributing author of an abstract is =35 years old and , either a post-doc or =5 years into their first academic appointment (Asst. Prof., prior to tenure,) they will be eligible for the award. Authors of abstracts chosen to compete for this award will be required to present their research as BOTH a poster and an oral platform presentation (~15 min). Both the poster and platform presentations will be judged. The most outstanding research presentation will be awarded the "Dietrich Hoffmann Career Development Award" sponsored by IFSH. This award of $40,000.00 USD will be made to the recipient's host institution for use in research-related activities (equipment, supplies, salaries, etc.). The award recipient will be required to attend the "2008 Research Symposium on Tobacco Science and Health" to present research results supported by these funds.
Travel Scholarships
A limited number of Travel Scholarships are available upon request. If a Travel Scholarship is requested, please check the appropriate box on the Registration Form and include the reason the scholarship is requested. Travel Scholarships are intended to offset the costs of travel and lodging, a bulk of the costs incurred by the participants, but are not intended to offset the Registration Fee. Payment of the Registration Fee and any meals not included in the Forum Agenda are the responsibility of each attendee. The event hosts will provide a continental breakfast and lunch each day of the Forum. When requesting a Travel Scholarship, please do not make a reservation with the Galt House. Travel Scholarship award recipients will have their room reservations made by IFSH. Should a Travel Scholarship be requested but not awarded, you will be notified in ample time make arrangements yourself.
