Dr. Gerald Rupp is the Vice President for Research of the Institute For Science And Health. For over twenty years Jerry has been involved in scientific research utilizing broad-based approaches derived from the disciplines of cell and molecular biology, including protein biochemistry, genetics, genomics, and high-resolution light and electron optics. His research work has included various aspects of microtubule-mediated motility, ranging from the mechanisms involved in cell division to the regulation of ciliary/flagellar motility. Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Rupp taught the core anatomical sciences (gross anatomy, cell biology/microanatomy, embryology) to first-year medical students.
Dr. Rupp holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the State University of New York at Albany. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell Biology and Anatomy from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the American Society for Cell Biology and Sigma Xi, and an active participant in youth athletics and welfare serving on several organizations board of directors.
