Acoustic Alchemy

Acoustic Alchemy is a Grammy-nominated contemporary jazz band that has the distinction of forging the way for the genre of smooth-jazz. Hailing from London , Acoustic Alchemy delights jazz loving audiences with a uniquely distinctive sound generated from a finely balanced blend of steel- and nylon-string guitars, encircling audiences with a melodic whirl of harmony and rhythmic sound. They have performed benefit concerts for the Institute for many years, delighting audiences with music and humor.

These events have very special meaning for Greg Carmichael, co-founder of Acoustic Alchemy with fellow guitarist Nick Webb. Nick Webb died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 43. "Nick was an inspiration for all of us in the band, involved in the music, ideas for arrangements, and recordings," says Greg. "He continues to be an inspiration to this day."

The Institute is honored that such a fine and globally recognized group has the desire to reach out to others and help in providing hope to those that are living with, or will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The group includes Emmy award-winning pianist Michael Silverman and electric violinist Andrew Driscoll (Sarah Brightman, Luciano Pavarotti, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra).

The group has performed several benefit concerts for the IFSH over the past 4 years, and is proud to be helping in some small way in the fight to cure Pancreatic Cancer. "There has been a lot of progress since we got involved in the cause, which is very encouraging," says Rob Silverman, drummer for the group. "Bringing people together for a good cause makes you feel good as an artist."

Special Live Debut

Bach to the Future will be performing the live debut of Hope , a piece specially created for pancreatic cancer research support by Mike Silverman.
